Who we are
This policy covers www.myguide-network.com. The website is run by My Guide Network Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 10125035), with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described here.
Each My Guide destination guide has its own privacy policy, which applies when you use that guide.
What we collect
- Messages you send us. When you use the contact form we collect your name, email address, the business or organisation you name, the topic you choose and your message.
- Usage data. Like most websites, our servers log technical information such as your IP address, browser and the pages you request. We may also use analytics and advertising measurement tools, described under Cookies below.
How we use it
- To reply to your message and deal with your enquiry. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering the people who contact us, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- To keep the website secure and working, and to understand how it is used so we can improve it. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure, useful website.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not add you to marketing emails because you sent us a message.
Who we share it with
We use service providers who process data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Amazon Web Services, for website hosting in the European Union
- MongoDB Atlas, for our database
- Twilio SendGrid, for delivering email
- Google and Meta, if analytics or advertising measurement tools are active on the site
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and related correspondence for up to six years, so we have a record if questions about them come up later. Server logs are kept only for a limited period, for security and troubleshooting.
Cookies
This website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies. Where analytics or advertising measurement tools are active, Google and Meta may set cookies to measure visits and the performance of our advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. To make a request, use our contact form and choose Something else. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
